Delicate notes of black cherry, raspberry and pomegranate, accented by distinct spice characters.  Velvety tannins meld with ripe red fruit flavors to create a smooth mouthful and long finish.

Stone Cap Merlot – Columbia Valley, Washington State (Glass $8, Bottle $24)

Aromatic notes of plum, toffee and hints of cassis and coffee.  A juicy medium body revolves around flavors of pomegranate, strawberry and raspberry, that evolve into a lush, full finish with notes of mocha.

Aromas of plum and blackberry.  Ripe berries, leather and black pepper with hints of oregano, dried herbs and a touch of vanilla; all leading to a dry and supple finish.

Piccini Memoro – Veneto, Abruzzo, Puglia, Sicily, Italy (Glass $8, Bottle $24)

40% Primitivo, 30% Montepulciano, 20% Nero d’Avola, 10% Merlot Del Veneto.  Intense bouquet of cloves, vanilla, cherry jam and almonds, with a spiced finish.

Altos Ibericos Crianza Tempranillo – Rioja, Spain (Glass $9, Bottle $27)

Floral and fruit aromas of Damascus rose, strawberry and raspberry, with spicy and smoky notes imparted by oak aging.  Velvety smooth, with fine, juicy tannins.

Marques de Caceres – Rioja, Spain (Bottle $36)

Reserva 2008 (Tempranillo and Garnacha).  The black cherry, plum, toast and tobacco flavors show good depth.  Tannins are firm.

 

South American

1865 Carmenere (Single Vineyard – 100% Carmenere) – Maule Valley, Chile (Bottle $36)

Aroma is intense and fruity with notes of blackberry, fresh plum and black cherry.  Hints of black pepper, vanilla and blond tobacco with ripe tannins on the palate.

Dante Robino, Malbec – Mendoza, Argentina (Glass $9, Bottle $27)

Full-bodied wine.  Interesting aromas of oriental spices, prune, nutmeg and earth notes combined with fresh violets and black olives.  Chewy texture and firm tannins.  Fruity palate, full of cherries, prunes, sandal, incense, peach and chocolate.

LaPosta Malbec – Mendoza, Argentina (Bottle $34)

Intense aromas of red rose petals and red berry fruits fill the nose.  Violet, berry, and mocha flavors on the palate with just a hint of blueberry, chocolate on the finish.

Amancaya Gran Reserva – Mendoza, Argentina (Bottle $36)

Malbec/Cabernet Sauvignon.  The nose presents aromas of cloves, white pepper, and raspberry.  The sleek chocolate and tobacco finish has a pleasant racy edge.  On the palate, the tannins are velvety with a long-lasting finish and lingering acidity.

Chateau L’Argentier – Coteaux du Laneudoc, France (Bottle $36)

Grenache/Carignan, Syrah, Mourvedre (“Rhone-Style” Blend).  Full bodied with dark and black fruits, pepper, licorice, and spicy and savory accents.

Apothic Red – Modesto, California (Glass $9, Bottle $27)

Syrah/Zinfandel/Merlot.  Full bodied with notes of blackberry, cherry, mocha and chocolate.

7 Moons Red Blend – California (Glass $8, Bottle $24)

Aromas of chocolate-covered cherries, baking spices and vanilla bean.  Flavors of strawberry preserves, cherry cola and milk chocolate.

Chateau David Bealieu Bordeaux Superieur – Bordeaux, France (Glass $8, Bottle $24)

Merlot/Cabernet Franc/Cabernet Sauvignon.  Red-fruit aromas.  Very supple wine with good body and a lot of fruit intertwined with floral notes and ripe tannins.  Deep and elegant with complex red berry aromas.

Petite Sirah/Syrah/Zinfandel/Merlot/Malbec.  The red fruits are ripe and bold.  Tannins are purposefully softer and easy to drink.

 

Cabernet Sauvignon

One Hope Cabernet Sauvignon – Napa Valley, California (Glass $8, Bottle $24)

Aromas of lush black cherry, cassis and a hint of tobacco.  Aged in American and French oak, its complex layers of spice are balanced by soft tannins.

Motto Backbone Cabernet Sauvignon – North Valley, California (Glass $9, Bottle $27)

Both backbone and elegance, with a soft and delicate nose of ripe red fruit.  Dark, concentrated flavors of red plum, caramel and bright raspberry explode out of the glass for a lasting finish.

James Mitchell Cabernet Sauvignon – California (Glass $10, Bottle $30)

Aromas of blackberry, cherry, cedar, leather and cocoa powder.  The palate has deep blackberry jam, huckleberry and black currant.  Oak structure with a lingering cocoa powder finish.

Its rich, ripe and focused with juicy blackberry and cherry fruit, milk chocolate and dusty notes tied together with a creamy french vanilla middle, and a lingering finish.
